Daejeon, South Korea 2003-09-19
On the waterway through Daejeon, South Korea. I never did get this gentleman's name, but as I was walking toward the Expo Park he hopped off his bike and walked with me. He'd been a colonel in the South Korean army, had been to Fort Knox for training, then retired (and retired from two other jobs too). He told me that he liked Americans very much and that he remembered how much we helped during the Korean War. "Kids today do not remember, but I do", he told me. We walked and talked for about a mile then he took off toward the center of the city...
