How to mount a VirtualBox VDI image. Very handy, I had a VM go belly-up on me and refuse to boot. Fortunately I had a clone and using this trick (from inside a Linux Mint VM of course) I was able to at least get the latest files off the busted one. Be sure to make backups of your VMs, it's not just real hard drives that go bad too!
