Last year I made a post about my experience with 99 dollar drain cleaning (Plumbline). I felt I'd almost been scammed but wondered if all drain companies didn't play that game. Well earlier last month I got an email from their webmaster claiming that he was going to have to "disavow links" from me since it was impacting his Google placement. Unfortunately I don't think that'll work out great for him: How to Use Google's Disavow Links Tool the Right Way since all he's trying to do is silence my dis-satisfaction with his company.
Here's his email in entirety:
I recently received notice from Google that my website has been assessed a penalty after they detected unnatural links pointing to my website http://www.plumblineservices.com/
The only way that Google will consider placing my website back in their index is by getting this link removed. And I really need your help!
I have been hard at work trying to identify links that Google could consider unnatural and there is a link that can be found on your website knick-knack.com
It points to this url on my websites: http://www.plumblineservices.com/99-drain-cleaning.html
Using this anchor text: 99 dollar drain cleaning
If I fail to get this link removed by sending this email Google has an alternative way of me dropping the value / or penalty from this link. They have a process in which I am able to file a "Disavow Links" report with Google.
My concern is that if I submit your site in this report to Google, they may flag your site as Spammy or otherwise not in compliance with their guidelines. Google is still the major source of high quality traffic on the Internet. Sometimes their guidelines and expectations change and the last thing that I want is to have another webmaster go through this pain and grief!
I'd appreciate your prompt attention to this matter, along with a confirmation that the links has been removed from your domain knick-knack.com
Sorry for the hassle & thanks in advance for your help and I hope that you never personally have to go through this...
Isn't it nice all he's thinking about is how Google perceives me? I'm not quite sure how Google thinks I have an unnatural link when I've been running this site for over 13 years now and have never had a problem before...
