Been working with a couple of HP Touchpads that I'd rooted some time ago, trying to bring them up to CyanogenMod 10.2 levels. For some reason I couldn't get the gapps package to take, it just never installed anything besides Google Mail (which I don't use anyway.)
Turns out the solution was to boot the tablet to USB-mode (holding down volume button down while booting), then installing ACMEinstaller3 (using "novacom.exe boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller3".) This churned for a while then rebooted. After installing that I was able to flash the latest CM 10.2 nightly and the Google Apps and everything is running great.
From my readings online I discovered that CM 10 requires an expansion of the /system partition (at the cost of /media), and ACMEInstaller3 takes care of that resizing.
