99 dollar drain cleaning. Had a backup at my rental property and I was out of town so I called them. First they claimed they couldn't find the drain trap so they pulled a toilet (resulting in an additional $49 charge), then they called me and said that they were able to get all the way to the sewer with the snake but weren't able to clear the clog (it "closed up right away when we pulled back"). So they recommended a pressure wash, at a rate of $495 (seriously!). I asked them to give it another 20 minutes or so because there was no way I was paying an additional $500. Turns out less than 5 minutes after that call they miraculously cleared it. Then they video snaked it and claimed I had a collapsed pipe (of course). Total cost ended up being $249, a fair bit above the claimed $99 price. I imagine this kind of scam goes for any of the plumbing companies so I'm not sure if it's fair to single these people out or not...
