Network Notepad creates quick diagrams and flow charts. Handy for working a quick network diagram up, which I frequently need to do in order to show a customer how my company equipment works together (we generally have 8+ boxes and 3+ networks for a single install...)     #>

Portable WSCC simplifies access to SysInternals, Nirsoft utilities. A one-stop control panel for the SysInternal tools, rather than having to try and remember what you've got and where it's located...     #>

Common Problems and Solutions for Nvidia restricted drivers after Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) Upgrade. I did have to set my xorg.conf file back to the "nv" driver to get back into X-windows. Then I just ran the package manager to search for "177" and installed the nVidia bits, then ran the "nvidia-settings" program and restarted X, everything was good after that.     #>

David Tennant on Doctor Who exit. Sucks that he's leaving. It took me a little bit to get warmed up to him after Christopher Eccleston, but I really enjoyed David Tennant's run.     #>

NPR's Planet Money, and the Planet Money Podcast. Made by the guys who did the awesome This American Life episodes "A Giant Pool of Money" and "Another Frightening Show About the Economy".     #>

You've Got to be Kidding! Comparing a Canon G10 to a Hasselblad H2 and P45+ digital back.

In every case no one could reliably tell the difference between 13X19" prints shot with the $40,000 Hasselblad and Phase One 39 Megapixel back, and the new $500 Canon G10. In the end no one got more than 60% right, and overall the split was about 50 / 50, with no clear differentiator. In other words, no better than chance.

Yesterday my neighbor Brett and I took advantage of the weather and grabbed a couple quick climbs at North Table Mountain (aka Golden Cliffs). The weather was incredible, especially for November 1, warm enough for t-shirts and shorts.

At the parking lot was a small flier for the new climbing guide coming out, though I cannot find a thing on Google about it. It looks like it's sponsored by the Access Fund (who own the area via a nice donation of the land some years ago) and the flier says it should be out on Nov 21. I'll post up more details when I can find them.

Also, I suppose it was inevitable that I'd run into them eventually, but we met Mark and Kate of ColoCalders at the base of our first climb. Had a nice chat with them and their friends while Brett monkeyed up his 3rd ever lead (gotta love a neighbor you can shove onto the sharp end...)     #>
