Redbox Security Alert - Credit Card Skimmer Attempt. Got an email from them the other day with links to this page, I appreciate how up-front they are being about it. Of course my only customer service experience with the company (via telephone for a DVD the machine ate and didn't say I gave it back) was very positive, so this is really what I have come to expect from them.     #>

Golden Hill Office Center Solar Electric Generation, this is the location of my local Congressman, Ed Perlmutter.     #>

My Formula For Pricing Real Estate Photography. Good stuff in the comments as well.     #>

When people find out I ride a motorcycle they usually ask what I have. Since most people only know the bikes in their interest (cruisers, sport-bikes, etc) and not many people know what realm mine falls into I usually have to go hunting on the manufacturers site to get a decent photo to share. Well the recent Colorado Strobist meetup at the North Denver Photographers Studio gave me the chance to get a decent shot of just the bike on it's own (after the models and the babies climbed down off it of course...)

The HDRI Handbook (the official website with chapter listings and such). Available at Amazon for $32. I still enjoy sometimes making an HDR image but quite often I see it being so overdone I don't care for the image anymore.     #>

Python 101 cheat sheet from IBM's developerWorks.     #>

How to Use AWK. I was trying to get some column totals from a csv (comma-separated values) file on a remote Sun box last week and found out it's built right into AWK, making it a 2-second job.     #>

Sun Streaming System. Way back when I worked for nCube there was talk that either Sun or IBM was thinking of buying the company for the streaming video technology but nothing ever came of either one of those rumors. Looks like Sun figured it out on their own.     #>

Palette Generator: Automagically create a harmonious color palette from a photograph. Similar to one I linked to a few years ago: Color Palette Generator. Worth using both of them to get the color scheme you are looking for.     #>

HTML image no preload rollovers. Doing an in-place image replacement for when someone puts their mouse over the original image. Easier and nicer than using that old Dreamweaver Javascript method.     #>

Eagle Creek Velocity 25" Upright. I'm in the market for a new suitcase, something between the small 22" carry-on I have and the monster "stuff everything you own" inside rolling duffel bag. I'm shocked at how much a good suitcase costs though.     #>

How Many Days Ago? Basically just a digital timer you slap on your jars and such, but at least you'd know how long the food has been in the fridge (without having to do the sniff-test...)     #>

El camino del Rey, 6 minutes of video of one hairy looking walk just to get to some climbing. When I saw this missing (or broken) flagstones I kept wondering why he assumed the edges would hold his weight? More on El Chorro.

However it is over 80 years old and is now sadly slowly crumbling away, especially at both ends. However, this definitely adds to the "feel of adventure" to the rock climbing at El Chorro and calls for a high level of commitment in just getting to the start of some of the routes! It is this area, which gives El Chorro its own unique intimidating atmosphere, and not surprisingly this is where the long multi-pitch routes are concentrated (up to 10-pitches long). The majority of the routes here are 6b+ and above, and are either above or below the Camino Del Ray walkway.

Python Oracle FAQ, helped when building my database connection for that first Python script.     #>

Wrapping dynamic languages in shell without an extra script. I ended up using this trick for my first Python script I wrote last week, it had to query a database and write some output, but the cx_Oracle Python module wasn't installed in the standard path, and since the script was running via cron I had to have a way to change the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. This did it for me and worked fine.     #>

Trapster: mobile utility locates speed traps. Showed this to a friend and he pointed out it works with Blackberries except on Verizon (as of now).     #>

Mini Beauty Dish + Accessory Kit, not cheap at $200 (after currency conversion) but looks interesting. Definitely more portable than the DIY beauty dish I made with a turkey pan and CD spindle cover...     #>
